When I bought this item, I thought,(foolishly)that the base was chrome like my other Cuisanart items. It is PLASTIC!! I will be lucky to have it last a year! I would buy it for the blender, I guess, since the blender is glass, but it still has to go on that plastic base. Don't waste your money...look carefully to get one that has a chrome base, unless the plastic doesn't matter to you. Mine is already scratched just after four uses and cleaning with mild soap and water with a soft cloth. It is a cheap product that probably won't hold up to the daily use the way I use it.
